Tim Schar is passionate about helping founders realize their potential. In addition to his 25 years in investment banking, he is a founder, a three-time venture-backed CFO and a two-time "intrapreneur" in the financial services industry. Through his successes and failures, Tim has learned about what it takes to go from startup to growth company.  

 

He held various leadership positions in private growth companies, including CFO, Chief Growth Officer, Chief Compliance Officer and Head of FP&A. Tim has executed and integrated strategic M&A. During his career in investment banking, he built and managed high-performing teams and focused on originating and executing complex securities transactions, including IPOs, private placements, equity derivatives and convertible securities. Schar has advised public and private companies on financing and strategic M&A across multiple industries and geographies, with significant expertise in software, semiconductors, fintech, digital media, telecom, healthcare and industrial sectors.

​Tim is active in the Tampa Bay community, fostering relationships with corporate, not for profit, and education institutions. He has served on the boards of the Tampa EDC, the Tampa Bay Partnership and Junior Achievement. He currently serves as a board of trustees member of Tampa Preparatory School and as the Chairman Emeriti of the Board for Synapse

He received a BA degree in Economics, with concentrations in Mathematics and Computer Science from Macalester College.

Mr. Schar and his wife are raising four daughters in Tampa, FL. When he is not working or spending time with his family, he enjoys reading, cycling, running, and skiing.
